The role and function of the ERHA
Eastern Regional Health Authority (ERHA)
The Eastern Regional Health Authority is now the statutory body with
overall responsibility for the health and personal social services for the 1.3
million people who live in Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow.
The work ahead of the ERHA is both wide-ranging and complex. Its
responsibilities include the strategic planning, commissioning, funding,
evaluation and monitoring of services. It will also act as an advocate for
clients and patients, with the Department of Health and Children. The new
structures provide a forum whereby the voluntary and statutory agencies
can work together in a new partnership
